Someone once told us our bowling green canopies looked like aircraft hangars … we reckon they might be onto something when you visit the MakMak canopy at Ocean Grove Bowling Club, the home base for the Geelong Jets BPL franchise.

Now we’re keeping the Jets connection flying, with MakMax re-committing as the team’s Major Apparel Partner for 2026 to 2028. We’ve been in their corner from the early days, and we’re excited to keep backing the club, the team and the game of lawn bowls.

In the Jets’ corner from the start

Our connection with Ocean Grove Bowling Club goes beyond the canopy overhead. As early partners and supporters of the club, we were proud to back its 2024 bid to join the Bowls Premier League (BPL) with a new franchise: the Geelong Jets.

When the Jets first took off at BPL20 at Club Pine Rivers in November 2024, MakMax was on board as one of their Apparel Partners. The black and pink had arrived, and we were ready to cheer them on.

There were close calls and exciting games along the way. From BPL21 at Moama Bowling Club to BPL22 at Club Pine Rivers, we kept flying the Jets flag as the team chased its breakthrough.

Then came BPL23 at Moama in February 2026. In just their fourth Bowls Premier League outing, the Geelong Jets went all the way, bringing home the trophy. What a moment for the team, the club and everyone who had backed them from the start.

Next stop: BPL24 at Ocean Grove

With Bowls Australia expanding the competition’s hosting opportunities, BPL24 is heading to Ocean Grove Bowling Club in November 2026. That means the Jets will be defending their crown on home turf, under the MakMax canopy they call home.

It’s a fitting place to begin the next chapter of our partnership. With our renewed commitment as Major Apparel Partner for 2026 to 2028, we’re proud to be the Geelong Jets’ wingman as they build on that BPL23 win. We’ve loved being part of the journey, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.

Premier League Bowling Green Canopies

For us, there’s another reason this competition feels close to home. MakMax has built the bowling green canopies at all three venues to host the BPL: Club Pine Rivers, Moama Bowling Club and Ocean Grove Bowling Club, with a forth venue, Club Helensvale, set to join the gang in as hosts of BPL25 in February next year.

So whether we’re cheering on the Jets or watching the action unfold under a MakMax canopy, there’s plenty for our team to get excited about. Our connection to bowls isn’t just about the structures we build. It’s about supporting the clubs and teams that bring those greens to life.
