The mission was clear: to revitalise the precinct, drawing both locals and tourists to experience its rejuvenated dining scene.

The Concept

The objective was twofold: to maximise the utility of the various King Street Wharf restaurants and infuse a visual rejuvenation throughout the precinct.

The Materials

To meet the unique size and functionality needs of each restaurant, a tailored approach was employed.

Cargo Bar, Nick’s Seafood, Pier 9, Georges, La Cita, and Bungalow 8 saw the installation of CS38 Centra model architectural umbrellas (between 2 and 8 units depending on the size of the restaurant). The outdoor dining umbrellas were enhance through the use linking infills and adorned with energy-efficient LED lights. Centra Architecture Umbrellas are designed to stay open all-year round, but have the ability for the canopy to be collapse in the event of severe weather.

For Casa Ristorante Italiano and the Meat District Co, the choice was the MS40 Monaco Linear Edge modular shade structures (similar in shape to the Centra, by engineered as a permanent non-collapsible shade structure). These Linear Edge on the Monaco not only expanded the coverage and seating capacity but also allowed for the integration of gutters and roll-down blinds, ensuring patrons’ comfort in all weather conditions.

By opting for the premium range of permanent commercial umbrellas from MakMax, King Street Wharf Umbrellas successfully created welcoming, all-weather dining spaces that safeguarded patrons from the elements. Simultaneously, the precinct achieved a striking, unified streetscape, providing a solid foundation for each individual brand to shine.

King Street Wharf’s transformation is a testament to the power of design and innovation, revitalising a beloved waterfront destination and offering a truly unforgettable dining experience.
