Rockingham Foreshore is a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly precinct with a series of  22 brightly coloured Architectural Umbrellas offering plenty of shade for visitors along the Beach Plaza, Railway Terrace and the Boardwalk as part of a revitalisation project.

Two years after the completion of the revitalisation project, an additional 10 Architectural Umbrellas were requested by Palm Beach Cafe Rockingham to match the umbrellas along the Foreshore precinct.

The Brief

The Rockingham Foreshore Revitalisation project set out to enhance the amenity, function and appearance of the foreshore precinct as an iconic beach destination.  The upgrade included the addition of new shaded areas, play spaces, seating and barbeque areas.

The contemporary streetscape design incorporated 22 x CS32 Centra Architectural Umbrellas placed along the foreshore precinct to facilitate pedestrian activity and alfresco dining, maximising community interaction and enjoyment.

An additional custom shade structure was requested to provide shade for the concrete slide and playscape featured as part of The Boardwalk.  MakMax designed and manufactured a barrel-vault style canopy which provides a strong and safe structure that can withstanding the coastal winds and conditions.

MakMax’s WA representatives and partner, Shade Engineering, were responsible for this project and the installation of the Architectural Umbrellas and Custom Shade Structure along the Rockingham Foreshore.

The Materials

The 22 x CS32 Centra Architectural Umbrellas have been installed at various places around the Rockingham Foreshore Precinct.  The umbrellas make use of the bright colours available in the MakMax Architectural Umbrella range to create a strong visual presence that matched the new colourful modular furniture and lounge seating.

3 x Buttercup | 6 x Orange | 4 x Raspberry | 5 x Porcelain Green | 4 x Lagoon

The additional 10 x CS27 Centra Architectural Umbrellas (2 of each colour) have been installed outside Palm Beach Cafe Rockingham to match the aesthetic and colours of the overall Foreshore Precinct.

The barrel-vault shade structure was made from Architec 400 a High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) fabric in Orange colour.

The Result

These lovely CS32 and CS27 Architectural Umbrellas create a pop of colour along Rockingham Foreshore, making it a colourful meeting place with plenty shade for visitors to enjoy.
