The Manheim Auctions Melbourne TensoNet Hail Net Protection Canopy (HNPC) is a 60,000 sqm Quad Net protection canopy located at the company’s Melbourne vehicle storage yard.
The project involved designing and constructing three separate sections of TensoNet canopy.
Area 1 & 2 (159,000 sqm) is designed to protect the medium and long-terms vehicle storage lots in the event of hail. The TensoNet Structures have a clearance of 5m underneath and closed sides along some sections to prevent storm-driven hail.
Area 1 (1000sqm) is designed to protect a smaller short-term vehicle area. Designed like a tent, the central columns are 5m high, while the side colums are 3m high. The angled sides help to add tension into the structure.
The Concept
Due to the size of the project, the Manheim Auctions Melbourne TensoNet canopies were split into five different zones for installation.
