The Concept

MakMax has the design and engineering capability to customise and adapt our canopy designs to suit the requirements of the project. The Wenty Leagues Bowling Club Canopy project called for the development of a new synthetic bowling green in the northwest corner of the local sports club’s property, which meant the new bowling green and canopy would be inset into the gentle slope of a hill.

In order to increase natural airflow in the areas where the ground level rose to the height to the columns, we used a saw-tooth, or zig-zag edge beam design along the northern side (next to the retaining wall). The aesthetically pleasing undulating form of the edge beam is reflected along the western edge, closest to the carpark.

A wide ‘eye-brow’ extends out over the edge of the retaining wall on the western edge, while the eastern end, which opens out on to the outdoor grass green, has been kept with minimal overhang to provide greater sightlines into the canopy.
