Construction of the new grandstands and grounds at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney has begun in earnest. The master planned redevelopment of the Randwick precinct will include a large 5 level grandstand, shopping precincts, a 4 star hotel, and even a light rail service. MakMax will provide the fabric roofing portion of the main grandstand at Royal Randwick, the historic racing site has been the home of racing in New South Wales for more than 150 years. The dramatic upgrade to facilities is expected to rival that of Flemington, elevating Randwick to the title of Australia’s racing mecca.

The fabric roof will use 1,200 square meters of Serge Ferrari 1002T2 PVC membrane to cover the entire roof section of the main spectator stand. Supporting steel will be erected over the main canopy allowing the interior space a minimalist look with clean lines and a flawless fabric finish.

MakMax has completed similar works at other racing venues including  Flemington Racecourse and Eagle Farm Racecource, Brisbane.
