Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Fleming’s

MakMax Australia is joining forces with Fleming’s Nurseries to produce the Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Fleming’s, Ian Barker Designs at the 2011 RHS Chelsea Flower Show from 24-28 May 2011.

MakMax engineer, Martin Eddleston and project manager, Julian Phillips have co-designed and manufactured a new textile interior for outdoor use along with architect, Ian Barker. Inspired by botanist Sir Joseph Banks and the first ships to visit Australian shores, the structure is reminiscent of nautical sails and organic shapes. In order for us to produce a structure that met Ian Barker’s criteria we have used PVC and lycra, which are both extremely versatile and surprisingly complementary materials. The choice of materials allowed individual design and structural features to be created while highlighting the design details of the construction.

Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Fleming’s, Ian Barker Designs at the 2011 RHS Chelsea Flower Show won a Silver-Gilt Medal at the event!
