Point Boston

The Point Boston development is a club house facility that will be the focal point of a larger development in the area. Future development will include a hotel that will eventually be joined to the club house. The architect specified PTFE as the roof of the building for its sustainable qualities, such as minimal resource use, the ability to transmit up to 17.5% of sunlight to lower electricity costs, and the longevity of the product. As the focal point of the development the architect wanted to design something that would stand out and with the flexibility of tensile membrane was able to achieve the look that he had envisioned. The unique undulating awning framing the building mimics the waves that can be seen through the floor to ceiling glass walls that has a 180º view of the beach, adding some more interest to the buildings overall look are the 2 conical umbrella structures that make up the main roof canopy, along with natural light illuminating from the ceiling gives the patrons a whole new viewing experience.
