Boggo Road Urban Village

Completed in late 2009, Watpac project Boggo Road Urban Village is a state of the art education facility specialising in ecosciences. MakMax was engaged to design, supply and install the large horticultural area on the rooftop of the building.

Made from HDPE Mesh and a transparent PVC membrane the structure is purpose built to provide two specific levels of light and UV transmission into the space beneath. The transparent PVC material is used as a windbreak at floor level and extents up to two meters from the ground. Special consideration was taken to ensure the levels of light inside the structure was consistent and precise, the use of a transparent PVC is one of these such considerations.

Two different kinds of HDPE mesh fabric were used, one with a transmission level of 50% UV rays, the other 75% to allow for different light levels and conditions. The mesh fabric stretched all the way down to the floor of the structure and every single opening was covered, even doors so as to be sure no varying light levels were encountered.
