Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Fleming’s

MakMax Australia is joining forces with Fleming’s Nurseries to produce the Trailfinders Australian Garden presented by Fleming’s, Ian Barker Designs at the 2011 RHS Chelsea Flower Show from 24-28 May 2011. MakMax Textile Interior structures are industry recognised as being uniquely designed and well executed installations. Previous Textile Interior projects such as the Myer Music Bowl, Moet & Chandon pavilion and Green Void have received acclaim for design excellence in their field.

MakMax engineer, Martin Eddleston and project manager, Julian Phillips have co-designed and manufactured a new textile interior for outdoor use along with architect, Ian Barker.

Inspired by botanist Sir Joseph Banks and the first ships to visit Australian shores, the structure is reminiscent of nautical sails and organic shapes. In order for us to produce a structure that met Ian Barker’s design criteria we have used PVC and lycra, which are both extremely versatile and surprisingly complementary materials. The choice of materials allowed individual design and structural features to be created while highlighting the design details of the construction.

Flemings Nurseries have become a popular attraction at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and have previously been awarded four Gold Medals and two Silver-Gilt Medals, as well as receiving a special visit from the Queen.

Considering Flemings Nurseries great deal of success in previous years, we are all hopeful that this year’s entry may produce more medal announcements.

Considered to be the most prestigious horticultural event worldwide, the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show runs for five days each May and offers landscape designers from around the globe the chance to showcase their designs and creations to an international audience.
