MakMax engineer, Martin Eddleston and project manager, Julian Phillips have co-designed and manufactured a new textile interior for outdoor use along with architect, Ian Barker.
Inspired by botanist Sir Joseph Banks and the first ships to visit Australian shores, the structure is reminiscent of nautical sails and organic shapes. In order for us to produce a structure that met Ian Barker’s design criteria we have used PVC and lycra, which are both extremely versatile and surprisingly complementary materials. The choice of materials allowed individual design and structural features to be created while highlighting the design details of the construction.
