Taiyo Kogyo Corporation’s “Technical Research Center, Material Development Group” has been certified with ISO/IEC 17025, an international standard related to the competence of testing and calibration laboratories, becoming the first membrane structure manufacturer worldwide to obtain this certificate.
ISO/IEC 17025 is an international standard which rules the general requirements for competence of testing and calibration laboratories. The accreditation by the organization certifies that the testing laboratory has a proper management system securing reliability of the measurement and test results, and that the testing laboratory has the ability to perform the tests, based on each test method and specification.
Certification of ISO/IEC 17025 includes the requirements for the already obtained ISO 9001, as well as requirements such as personnel, accommodation and environmental conditions, equipment, measurement traceability, assuring the quality of test results and so on, which results in a very strict accreditation system. Taiyo began preparations for the certification 2-years ago, and succeeded in obtaining the testing laboratory accreditation regarding “Inspection and test methods of organic polymeric materials” from The Japan Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (JAB) on August 3rd.
Due to this certificatione, test results from “Technical Research Center, Material Development Group” are proven highly reliable, and future test reports issued from the “Technical Research Center, Material Development Group” will be acknowledged internationally.
In addition, this being is the first time for a large scale membrane structure manufacturer to obtainhas succeeded in obtaining the ISO/IEC 17025 certification. T, the secured reliability of tests regarding fiber, rubber, and plastic will contribute to the quality improvement of our products such as architecture, civil engineering products, and logistic systems, and so on.
Taiyo Kogyo Corporation has participated in many international government projects in recent years. This accreditation of ISO/IEC17025 has already led to one test request from abroad, i.e., the testing laboratory has already obtained a reputation of high reliability and evaluation from outsidewithin the global community.
In the future, the accreditation scope will be expanded to international industrial standards so that they may be handled locally, and thus be applied for orders and services for international projects. We will start the testing business frombegin running tests based on external requests from September and will contribute to the development of fiber, rubber, plastic industries.
ISO/IEC17025 is an international standard for testing and calibration, which many testing laboratories, research centers, and companies are obtaining around the world. This is the first time for a membrane structure to obtain this certificate.
To obtain ISO/IEC17025, a rigorous evaluation took place including the requirements for the already obtained ISO 9001, as well as requirements such as personnel, accommodation and environmental conditions, equipment, measurement traceability, assuring the quality of test results. Needless to say, our evaluation techniques were improved through the process of obtaining this certificate.
In the future our test reports will be acknowledged as a fair and independent report without the influence from other departments in our company. In addition, our laboratory will be recognized as an certified laboratory under the accreditation organization IAAC・APLAC・EA・SADCA which is a member of ILAC.
This means that our test results will be acknowledged internationally.
The accreditation scope includesis testing of the weight, thickness, and tensile strength of fabrics. However all tests based on a JIS standard, are welcome. We have already revcived request from a company based in the Middle East.
In the future, the accreditation scope is planned to be expanded to international industrial standards so that they may be handled locally, and thus be applied for orders and services for international projects.
Taiyo Kogyo Corporation Technical Research Center is committed to continue advancing for our group’s success internationally.
