North Queensland Icon David Hutchen Rebuilds

Following the destructive power Cyclone Yasi unleashed on Far North Queensland in early 2011 the region has struggled to rebuild to its former glory. Port Hinchenbrook resident David Hutchen has been active in the community for decades, as a business owner, entrepreneur and volunteer. Today the Hutchen family has fallen on hard times, not least with the plight of Cyclone Yasi earlier this year. MakMax is fortunate enough to be in a position to donate one cherished item the family lost in the cyclone, a MakMax Architectural Umbrella.

Mary Beth Hutchen writes of the morning after the horrific storm; "...we discovered the most astonishingly surreal site when we returned to our home at Port Hinchenbrook. Our deck was covered in a stack of boats...". Mary Beth continues saying the overwhelming personal cost of this event in their lives has been lessened by the kind will of a stranger. Everyone at MakMax is proud to offer a helping hand to a family that has given so much to their local community in their time of need.
