MakMax and Bowls Australia

MakMax is proud to announce a new partnership with Bowls Australia, the governing body responsible for lawn bowls. MakMax products have been endorsed as the preferred solution to shade and weather cover for bowling clubs by Bowls Australia. The move came after MakMax completed the flagship project at Pine Rivers Memorial Bowling Club in Queensland with huge success. Since then MakMax have been commissioned to create similar covers at three other clubs nationally.

The partnership provides clubs nationwide the opportunity to upgrade to the highest quality playing environments available today. The sporting community is now realising the amazing potential of tensile membrane for sporting facilities. With key concerns being sun safety, all weather use, and cost reductions tensile membrane roofing from MakMax Australia is an easy choice.

With superior shade and weather protection for bowling greens becoming a growing concern for many clubs, MakMax is able to provide a highly engineered fabric roof that spans the entire green promising a long list of benefits.

Benefits include:

  • Beautiful, architecturally designed structure.
  • Comfortable playing environment. Fabric roofs do not suffer the solar heat gain issues that steel roofs are famous for. Due to the UV reflecting properties of fabric the playing surface will remain a comfortable temperature, no fans or air-conditioners required
  • Uninterrupted natural light transmission though the fabric roofing, eliminating the need for expensive artificial lighting during the day. The long span possible with fabric means no posts of poles in your green and no shadow-lines through the playing surface.
  • Reduction in green costs.  A fabric roof required artificial turf, for this reason most clubs cover one or two green out of three.
  • Use of the facility all year round; rain, hail, wind or shine! The venue can also double as a function space or hall for hire.
  • Increased membership and property value. With more playing days and times you’ll be able to service more teams.
  • Sun safe venue. The fabrics we use transmit approximately 16% of the suns light and 0% of the UV rays which cause sunburn and skin cancer.
  • Efficient use of structural steel. Far less steel is required to support the 4,000sqm of fabric at 1050g/sqm compared to traditional sheet metal roofing.

MakMax Australia has been able to showcase the quality differences in both design and construction when comparing sports facility cover. In-house teams at MakMax are able to value engineer the standard design reducing costs while maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the structure. All aspects of the conversion to a covered green are considered, from water run off remediation to roof access and maintenance.
