Government funding plays a huge part in the development of sporting clubs in Australia.
Pine Rivers Memorial Bowls Club received government funding in 2009 to cover two of their greens in the Brisbane North region. MakMax supplied and installed the two long span roofs which have transformed the club. Since installing the cover Pine Rivers Memorial Bowling Club have seen a 20% increase in membership and participation.
Beth Putt from The Pine Rivers Memorial Ladies Bowls Club can’t say enough about the new playing environment.
“It’s absolutely fantastic, we don’t worry any more if it’s raining, we can play anytime. We even see other clubs coming to use our greens when theirs are all wet. I don’t have to worry about the sun either!”
Beth adds that some of her friends who have suffered with skin cancer can now play under the roof, “I’m so glad they can come along now, I know they love bowls but because of the sun they just couldn’t play. Now with the roof they are enjoying the game and it’s great to see."
