Kenafine

At MakMax Australia we are striving to overcome many of the environmental problems we experience today: global warming, waste and recycling, and chemical substances disruptors. We are attempting to solve these problems step by step through membrane. This is why we are so proud of our newest development, Kenafine. Kenafine is an annual herb which absorbs harmful carbon dioxide better than any other plant or tree. Thus, it attracts attention as a material for the environmental preservation.

PTFE-and PVC-coated fabrics are widely applied for architectural membrane structures such as tent warehouse, shelter, sports dome and stadium The lifetime of these materials are estimated to be over 10-30 years, however, ultimately the plastic wastes are disposed in landfills today. When these plastic wastes are incinerated harmful pollutants are released into the atmosphere. It was for these reasons that Taiyo Kogyo developed Kenafine, a membrane made to recycle.

Kenafine® is made by weaving Kenafine plant fibres and polyester fibres into a base fabric and coated with thermo-plastic resin. This membrane does not contain any PVC and does not cause toxic substances when burnt, but instead can be used to make recycled paper.

Kenafine is now available for commercial use, so contact us now to find out how you can use this environmental friendly membrane material in your next project.

Kenafine envelopes are manufactured using recycled Kenafine membrane that is mulched into a fluffy fibrous material. This mulched product is then milled into paper. The recycled paper envelopes have a unique texture and appearance with small fibres of the Kenafine still visible.
